New year; new blog

OK, for some strange reason I couldn't post to my old blog.  So,I created a new one.  I am Heather Barrett, AKA The Crippled Mama.  I am a 41 year old married woman with Cerebral Palsy and 2 kids.  I met my husband of 16 years at Middle Tennessee State University. where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Social Work.  I've never worked.  We got married after I graduated and decided to start a family.  Because of my CP we weren't sure what that would involve or how difficult it would be.  I consider both my kids miracles -as all kids.  With my son Dalton, born July 13, 1999, I had Bronchitis and coughed for the better part of six months.  It wass funny because he would make this hacking noise and we finally figured out that he was imitating me and the sound he'd while he was in my stomach.
My daughter, Bobbye Sue born September 5, 2002, was a totally different story.  We found out at 26 weeks the my water was leaking.  That knowledge earned me a nice 2 month vacation in the ICU of Labor and Delivery in the hospital.  Very intense situation.  It was a day by day question; do we deliver or let her cook for another day.  I had her at 36 weeks and she was perfect; she didn't even need oxygen.
Today Dalton is 15 and Bobbye Sue is 12.  They're perfectly normal  kids.  Dalton plays basketball, Bobbye's in Girl Scouts. They fight like cats and dogs, but they're both really good kids.
The point of this Blog is to share our experience as a family and my experience as a disabled woman, wife and mother.
